Memphis, TN - Police say a woman was killed and a man hurt after they were thrown out of their SUV following a high speed chase in Mississippi.

Officers say the chase started with the robbery of a bank in Corinth. The first officers to arrive at the SouthBank said the two robbers were firing shots as a car tried to run them over.  It happened at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2009.

Officers say the robbery sparked a high-speed chase which ended when the robbers lost control of their SUV and crashed on U.S. Highway 72 near Iuka.  The SUV flipped over at least once and landed on its roof.  Both robbers were thrown from the SUV.

The Highway Patrol says the woman, Vida Byrd of Tuscumbia, Alabama died at the crash site.  Asa Nakeen Warren, also of Tuscumbia, Alabama, was sent to a hospital in Tupelo, MS.    There's no word on his condition.
