Train Derailment in Tipton County, Tennessee

TIPTON COUNTY, TN – Authorities in Tipton County say a train has derailed just north of Brighton.

It happened around 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2009, east of Highway 51, near Brighton. Chief Donna Turner with the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office says at least 15 cars derailed behind a business.

Turner says the train was heading north on the on the Canadian Rail Road. A few of the cars were tankers, but Turner says they were empty and there were no spills.

No one was hurt in the accident.
