MOUNT CARMEL, Ill. (AP) -- A 46-year-old Tennessee man died after his vintage single-engine airplane crashed in rural southeastern Illinois.
Wabash County Sheriff Joe Keeling says James Michael Bower of Mount Juliet, Tenn., died Saturday when his 1941 two-seat airplane crashed in a soybean field near the city of Mount Carmel. Keeling says Bower was flying to an experimental aircraft show in Oshkosh, Wis.
Bower was the only person on board the aircraft. The Federal Aviation will investigate the crash.
