Olive Branch, MS – Storm clean up is underway in Olive Branch after a  twister touched down there Friday, June 12, 2009.

The National Weather Service says it was an EF2 tornado that snapped power lines, downed trees and damaged several homes. Officials say 15 to 20 homes sustained serious damage.

Anita Wallace’s home is one of them. A huge oak tree fell her house while she and her two sons were inside. “I feel like God was watching out for us because the tree was probably a blessing. Instead of being directly hit the by wind itself, the tree probably blocked that,” she said.

Many of the other homes damage were in the Parkview subdivision.

The American Red Cross has opened two shelters to help those displaced by the storms.
