SHELBY COUNTY, TN - If you are going out of town for the holidays, Shelby County Deputies can keep an eye on your home. You can call and let them know when you will be gone, and for how long. A deputy will stop by your home three times a day. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office has been offering this service for several years. Steve Shular, with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office says it’s an excellent way to scare off crooks. “It ensures a deputy will actually drive up to the driveway and look around the house, make any observations of any things that look out of place and actually be on the property to investigate and that could certainly help prevent a burglary. It could also send another message to burglars in the community that deputies are there making routine checks on houses. It’s always a good thing to know you’re going to have another set of eyes on your property when you go out of town.”

Deputies will only do this for people living in Lakeland, Arlington, and unincorporated Shelby County.
