MEMPHIS, TN - Shelby County children are now getting vaccinated against the swine flu virus. Tuesday, October 20, 2009, the Memphis and Shelby County Health Department began offering free injections for children between six months and four years of age. That age group is considered a priority because of their increased risk of catching the virus.

This morning, we talked with two parents whose children were vaccinated. Chris Martin said, "Well, we're just trying to do everything we can to protect our son against any disease. We know that our pediatrician was not offering the shot; and we knew that they had a limited supply here at the health department, only 4,000 shots, so we wanted to make sure we came as bright and early to make sure he got it."

Concerned parent Warren Cherry said, "The younger they are, they say the quicker we need to get 'em. So, if you got little kids you need to get on down here."
