CORDOVA, TN - Tragedy on this Fourth of July weekend for a Memphis-area family. Their 16-year-old son drowned after he jumped into the Walnut Grove Lake in Cordova.
The young man's mother, LaShaundra Tyms, tells myEyewitnessnews.com that her son, Demario Tyms, was in a boat with other family members and decided to go into the water and swim to a nearby dock. When he didn't resurface, other relatives jumped in to try and find him without success.
He was last seen around 6:15 Saturday evening.
Around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, rescuers recovered his body.
