MEMPHIS, TN – Memphis police say a Major with the department was arrested for DUI and reckless driving.
According to a police affidavit, officers were called to an accident on Highway 385 at Ridgeway Road, Tuesday, November 3, 2009, around 2:50 a.m. Police say Memphis Police Major Prentiss Jolly was driving a Mazda pickup truck when he changed lanes and sideswiped another car.
Officers say they noticed a slight odor of alcohol while they were talking to Jolly. They also say he was swaying as he walked back to the officers’ squad car.
According to the police document, Jolly refused to submit to a field sobriety test and a blood alcohol test.
Jolly, 47, was arrested and charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, Public Intoxication and Refusal to Submit to a Blood Alcohol Test. He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday, November 4th.
