MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis Mayor A C Wharton is hoping to find a way to crack down on gun violence in the Frayser and Raleigh area.

He is convening a special “community congress" in response to the sharp increase in deadly shootings in those communities. It's happening Monday, November 30, 2009, at 5:30 p.m. at Golden Gate Cathedral on James.

There have been four recent murders of Memphis young people within a four-square mile area of that church.

Mayor Wharton had originally schedule the meeting for December, but he decided to move it up in light of the recent killings.
