BENTONIA, Miss. (AP) -- Authorities say a man shot two women early Wednesday, killing one, then led police on a chase before fatally shooting himself in the head.
Bentonia Police Chief Edward Ferrell says the name of the man and the victims' identities would be released after family members are notified.
Ferrell says the women were shot about 3:00 a.m. at an apartment complex in Canton. The injured woman was being treated at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Her condition was not immediately released.
Ferrell says that after the shooting, the suspect led police on a chase from Madison County into Bentonia in neighboring Yazoo County. Police say he pulled over on U.S. Highway 49 North and shot himself.
