SHELBY COUNTY, TN – Deputies say a man was tied to a chair in his east Shelby County home, beaten and robbed.

The victim told Shelby County Sheriff’s detectives that three men walked into his home, in the 7200 block of Grapetree Trail, through an unlocked door and demanded money. According to the homeowner, the crime happened around 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 18, but he was not able to free himself to call authorities until just after 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

The victim says the men beat him, tied him to a chair and blindfolded him while they ransacked his home. Two of the men left the house with the victim’s ATM card to steal cash from his account, said deputies. The third man, investigators say, stayed at the home until the other two came back. That is when all three men left the house.

Deputies say the victim was able to break free of the chair, but had to run to a neighbor’s house to call authorities because the crooks stole his cell phone as well. He told investigators he was not able to get a good look at the suspects because of the blindfold.

No arrests have been made in this case. Anyone with information about this home invasion should call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH (2247) or Shelby County Sheriff’s detectives at (901) 545-5600.
