MEMPHIS, TN – MLGW officials say it will take at least a week to restore power to the more than 130,000 people sitting in the dark.
Seventy-six power circuits were damaged by a severe storm that rolled across the Mississippi River, knocking down trees and power lines, Friday evening, June 12, 2009.
According to MLGW spokesperson Chris Stanley, five crews are on their way from Chattanooga to help restore power in the Memphis area. MLGW has requested an additional 25 crews.
Officials say it will take at least a week to restore everybody’s power and are asking people to be patient.
An Entergy spokesperson says at least 20,000 customers are without power in DeSoto County, Mississippi. The spokesperson says it could be Monday before power is back on in that area.
Arkansas also has a number of outages. In Crittenden County, more than 3,900 people are waiting for their power to be restored.
