MEMPHIS, TN - MLGW workers and the City of Memphis are at an impasse when it comes to the next labor contract. When that occurs, three city council members are picked to be on the impasse committee to help solve the contract issues. The members picked were Bill Morrison, Shea Flinn and Edmund Ford, Jr. Members are picked at random, lottery style.

Edmund Ford, Jr. says “I need to go buy a lottery ticket. I think I am going to do that after work. But seriously, since both side are close to an agreement, it shouldn’t take us that long.”

One of the issues in dispute is triple pay for employees. MLGW President Jerry Collins says “We’re ok with time and half, and double pay, but I don’t think triple pay is appropriate.”
