DRESDEN, TN (AP) - About 3,000 customers of Frontier Telephone may be without service until Tuesday, May 5, 2009, because of a lightning strike.
David Sudberry, manager of the Frontier office in Dresden, told WCMT-AM that lightning struck a tree Friday afternoon near the phone company's switcher office, knocking out the equipment.
The emergency 911 number was rerouted, but otherwise, service has been shut down since about 3:30 p.m. Friday.
Some cell phone and internet service in Dresden, Palmersville and Latham was also disrupted.
