JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) -- A Weakley County man charged in his wife's beating death pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
The Jackson Sun reported Wednesday that 33-year-old Jason Douglas Kayser was ordered to serve 100 percent of his sentence as part of the plea agreement filed Friday.
Court records showed that Kayser told authorities that he hit his wife, April, during an argument in April 2008 and waited 18 hours before taking her to a hospital.
The 30-year-old woman died a week later at a Nashville hospital from her injuries.
