HORN LAKE, MS -- A Mid-South family woke up to racial slurs, toilet paper and eggs all over their home and cars. The vandal struck in the early morning hours of May 28, 2009, in the 2700 block of Ashwood Cove.
Antonio Barnes and his aunt Elnora Taylor say they will now have bad memories that can never be erased.
“It scared me and my family to wake up to something like that in 2009,” says Barnes.
Their home and Barnes’ car were both spray painted with racial slurs. Taylor was first to notice the damage. “When I got up this morning to go to work, I opened up the door and it was a swastika sign on the door. I cut the light on and it was one on the porch.”
Investigators say the vandal is 22 year-old Nicholas Wade Bramblett. According to Horn Lake Police this all stems from an argument Bramblett had with someone living in the home over a girl. Bramblett was arrested outside the home with spray paint on his hands and egg shells on his shoes.
Horn Lake investigators are calling this a crime of revenge. Evidence has been turned over to both the FBI and the Desoto County District Attorney’s Office. They will then decide if Bramblett should be charged with a hate crime.
