MEMPHIS, TN - Thursday afternoon, a canoeist fell into the Mississippi River about one mile north of the Hernando DeSoto Bridge. Tnnight, the Coast Guard is searching the river for the boater.
A second man in the canoe is safe after swimming to shore, where he was picked up by a Memphis Police boat.
According to the Coast Guard, it looks like the missing 62-year-old was not wearing a life jacket.
Joining the coast guard in the search: MPD helicopters, harbor patrol boats and boats from Crittenden County, AR.
