Body Found In Burning Truck In Phillips County, Arkansas

PHILLIPS COUNTY, AR - A homicide investigation is underway near Helena-West Helena, AR, after a body was found inside a burning pickup truck. The truck was discovered Tuesday, April 14, 2009, just yards away from the St. Francis National Forest.  David Lovell was on his way home when he made the gruesome discovery.  "I seen the truck sitting on the side of the road and I got out my cell phone."

Investigators aren't saying how the man died, but it's believed the victim died before the truck was set on fire.  People who live in the area tell myEyewitnessNews.com the victim is a man in his thirties who is from Helena-West Helena, Arkansas.

The Phillips County Sheriff's Office is leading this investigation.  Sheriff Ronnie White says the department doesn't have many leads in this case.  If you have any information that could help investigators, call the Phillips County Sheriff's Office at (870) 338-5555.
