Duncan, MS – Bolivar County authorities are searching for a suspect responsible for killing his mother-in-law and her 4-year-old granddaughter and leaving their bodies on the side of the road.
According to Bolivar County Corner Murray Roark, 44-year-old Michelle Nash Walker and her granddaughter, Janiya Williams, were found lying next to a pick up truck on Highway 61, north of Duncan. Roark says a FedEx driver found the bodies around 5:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2009. It appears, Roark says, the 4-year-old was placed on top of her grandmother.
Roark believes the two were shot in the head, once each, around 1:00 a.m., Tuesday.
Walker and her granddaughter were reported missing from a home in Darling, MS in Quitman County, Monday night.
Police began searching for 43-year-old Harvey Lewis shortly after the bodies were discovered. After an extensive search by police, Lewis was found Tuesday night in Bolivar County and arrested on murder and kidnapping charges.
