ASH FLAT, Ark. (AP) -- Sharp County sheriff's deputies have arrested a woman accused of giving a 5 week-old infant an overdose of liquid morphine.
Twenty-two year-old Crystal Williams of Cherokee Village was arrested Wednesday on three felony warrants issued from Trumann. Charges include introduction of a controlled substance into the body of another, possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a minor.
The baby was treated at Arkansas Children's Hospital after being taken there on May 4 from Fulton County Hospital. An investigator said at the time the infant's mother threatened during questioning but also confessed.
Officials say Williams is to be returned to Poinsett County to face charges.
