GREENWOOD, MS (AP) - Authorities say a 9 year-old boy died Saturday, June 6, 2009, after apparently darting into the path of a truck while driving a child-sized ATV near Morgan City.
Leflore County Coroner Debra Sanders says Tyler Marett was pronounced dead at Greenwood Leflore Hospital late Saturday afternoon. The accident occurred on County Road 552.
Sanders says Tyler Marett is the son of Jennifer Marett of North Carrollton. Jennifer Marett was elected to a seat on the North Carrollton Board of Aldermen on Tuesday. She is the daughter of the town's mayor, Pete Misskelley.
The family was reportedly having a cookout at the time of the crash.
