MEMPHIS, TN - On the same day Romalic Jones held his 3rd annual "Stop The Crime" rally in South Memphis, a murdered 10-month-old girl was laid to rest. And that's why Jones says events like his are so important to the community.
Jones is no stranger to the pain and heartache caused by crime and violence. His brother, Quincy Jones, was shot and killed in November 2006 by car thieves.
"Our goal," he tells myEyewitnessNews.com, "is to come out here every year and make some noise to say Memphis is our home. We're tired of the killing. And we need something done about it."
During the rally on Saturday, November 7, 2009, white balloons representing the innocent victims of crime were released from a casket.
About 100 people then marched peacefully through the streets of South Memphis.
