HERNANDO, MS – Hernando police say one person is dead and another was airlifted to The MED after a car plowed into a road construction site.
It happened on Highway 51, south of Green Road, around 7:00 a.m., Thursday, June 25, 2009.
Police say a woman was driving northbound on Highway 51 when she drove through a road construction site, where a flag person was directing traffic. The woman passed the flag person and hit a large piece of road construction equipment, killing the driver of the car, authorities said.
One of the flag workers was also injured and was airlifted to The MED. Police have not released the name of the woman killed nor the injured worker.
