MEMPHIS, TN - Police figured out the body found on a baseball field behind an elementary school was that of Alex Bolar, thanks to a tip, not a missing persons report or a concerned parent. Memphis Police Director Larry Godwin says it’s unfortunate. “It’s been almost 24 hours before we could figure out who he was and that’s frustrating and disappointing all in one.”
Tedra Wilson says she also wondered where the parents were, until she realized the victim was her next door neighbor. “His momma was a single momma.”
Wilson says Bolar’s mother works three jobs to support Alex and his two brothers. Alex’s father lives in Nashville. He spoke with myEyewitnessNews.com by phone.
“I’m trying to figure out what would warrant a person to kill a child? I can’t understand it.”
As Alex’s father races to the Memphis area to be with loved ones, emotions are racing high in the Frayser neighborhood where the 15-year-old was killed. Neighbor Tedra Wilson is still in disbelief. “This shouldn’t have happened to him. He was like my Godson. I love that boy and he’s going to be missed, he is.”
Investigators tell myEyewitnessNews.com they have no solid leads. “We’re going to move from there and try to determine who he was with and try to track his last steps and develop a suspect,” says Godwin.
If you know or remember seeing Alex Bolar please call the Memphis Police Department. Your tip could help investigators solve this case.
