Developing discipline
If you want to maintain and develop discipline in your fitness program, you should first take a good hard look at your schedule, your body, and your tastes.
Establishing a routine
A routine is a specific combination of exercises prescribed for a given body part. A split routine is the working of a given number of body parts on one day, and a given number of other body parts on the next day.
Fighting boredom
The perfect answer to boredom is a good work out. Exercise is a good boredom therapy because it produces mood-elevating brain chemicals, gives you a sense of physical control, and makes you look and feel better.
Self-confidence
Self-confidence is confidence in oneself, one's own abilities. It is the reliance of one's own power to accomplish what's necessary. We gain self-confidence because of our belief in ourselves; the self respect we have for ourselves, in other words our self-esteem.
Stress and exercise
Everyone should have a repertoire (REP-er-twar) of stress-reducing techniques, and exercise is one of the best. A body lacking in physical stamina is in no shape to handle stress.
Understanding pain
You can expect to feel an initial soreness when you begin to exercise. But how much pain or soreness should you tolerate? A good workout will produce what's usually called the 'burn.
