MEMPHIS, TENN. --- University of Memphis kicker Matt Reagan was named to the ESPN The Magazine All-District second team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Reagan, a first-team selection by the organization in 2008, holds a 3.85 grade point average while working on a double major in mathematics and Earth science.  Reagan has been named to the Tiger 3.0 Club and to the U of M Dean’s List for six semesters.  He also earned a perfect 4.0 GPA last spring.  A leader on and off the field, Reagan was selected as the Paul H. Sisco Outstanding Senior in the geography department last spring, in addition to winning the Children’s Literature Award through the English department.

To be nominated for Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes also must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s games at the position listed on the nomination form.

The Knoxville, Tenn., native has handled punting and field goals this season.  Heading into this weekend’s game versus Tennessee, Reagan leads Conference USA in punting average, and ranks fourth nationally.  He is averaging 45.3 yards on 43 punts, and has hit 13 punts more than 50 yards.

Reagan will finish his career at Memphis as one of the top kickers in school history.  He is currently ranked fourth in Memphis history in scoring by a kicker with 245 points (110 PAT/ 45 FG) and is three points away from tying Ryan White for third place.  He also ranks tied for second with Joe Allison in career PATs made (110) and second in PATs attempted (116), while also ranking fifth all-time in field goals made with 45. He totals 14 career games of multiple field goals made, and has booted seven career field goals of 40 yards or more.
