The Grizzlies await for Jason Williams to clear waivers. J-Will, who after a year in retirement has decided he wants to return to the NBA. The Grizzlies are in need of a point guard. Williams is in need of a place to play. Although there were tense moments during Williams first and only stint in Memphis, both parties appear to be willing to put that behind them.

Grizzlies General Manager Chris Wallace says if no one claims Williams' contract by the close of the business day, the Grizzlies would like to talk to him about a possible return to Memphis, depending on his physcial health and his game. Williams is said to be open to the possibility of returning or even playing with the Knicks, who are also showing interest.

The Grizzlies have been consistent all along in their talks of acquiring a backup to Mike Conley at the point guard. They may actually have one already in Marcus Williams.

Marcus Williams helped lead the Grizzlies to a 5-0 Summer League record. His agent, Calvin Andrews, informed Pro Basketball News that Marcus would sign with the Grizzlies, though Wallace said no deal is pending at the moment. Wallace does admit the Grizzlies are very interested in having him in the fold.

Wallace said the Grizzlies' could easy enter the season with three point guards. He said one player who's last name is Williams could be in the mix, but added that both could land on the roster or the Grizzlies could go into a different direction and not sign either.
