WIMBLEDON,
England (University of Mississippi) -- Ole Miss NCAA Champion Devin Britton's remarkable run of 10 straight grass court wins ended at
Wimbledon Friday in the semifinals in a marathon match to his doubles partner, Jordan Cox.
In an extremely tight match, the two battled to a third set, and then played another hour and 24 minutes before the outcome was decided. Britton, a native of
Jackson, Miss., saved three match points on his serve at 13-14, before finally succumbing 16-14 to Cox. The entire match lasted two hours, 25 minutes.
This is how close it actually was: Cox won 157 points, Britton 152.
Three hours after their marathon singles match, the two took to the courts for their quarterfinal doubles match, but were bounced in straight sets.
Britton, the youngest NCAA Singles Champion ever, now gets ready to head to
Croatia as a practice partner for the U.S. Davis Cup Team.
