KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Researchers as Kansas State University have produced seminars and training aids dealing with sex among nursing home residents.

Advocates for the elderly see the project as timely. Baby boomers are aging, but they also have more liberal attitudes about sexual relations -- and some nursing homes are not prepared for the incoming generation.

Sexual relations in nursing homes often have simple solutions, such as a "Do Not Disturb" sign.

A national expert on dementia says she's seeing a growing awareness that the aging do not forefeit their rights as they become infirm. And that, says Robin Dessel, includes the right to express sexuality.
