Melrose rising junior Adonis Thomas wasn't thrilled about the food in Argentina, but he was happy about what he and his United States U16 basketball team accomplished while out of the country. Thomas and company won gold in the 2009 FIBA Americas Championship game against host Argentina Sunday night.
Thomas, who grabbed 10 rebounds in the win 101-87 win, also scored 21 points in the tournament opener against Brazil.
The USA finished the competition with a 5-0 record. Thomas returned to Memphis Tuesday sporting his new gold medal. To hear what he learned from the experience click on the video player to the right.
