MEMPHIS -- Reginald Buckner and Roy McFadgon. Not only are they two of the leading scorers for the Manassas boys basketball team, they're also the blocking barons of Shelby County.

Buckner replied when asked how a great block makes him feel, "It's always getting me hyped and more motivated."

Manassas head coach, Gerald Harris said of Buckner and McFadgon and their blocks, "It's just a given talent. They've been blessed with the jumping ability and the long arms and the height, and so they've been putting it to good use."

McFadgon's height is about six feet six, and he swats away nearly two-and-a-half shots per game. Buckner stands about two inches taller, and he leads the area with close to seven blocks each time out on the floor.

"They compete very hard against each other in practice, so that has a lot to do with them when they're in competition with other schools," added Harris.

Buckner described his strategy, "See what I do is wait until they shoot the ball and the just time it in the air."

That innate timing along with hard work has elevated Buckner's defensive game.

"I've also been lifting weights and running," he said.

Buckner and McFadgon aren't much for talking on camera about their dominance down low. Buckner gave short answers. McFadgon wouldn't speak at all. They'd rather let their hands do the talking on the hardwood and hope the Tigers can claw their way to a sectional title.

Senior point guard Trey Payne said of Monday's match up against Humboldt, "It's one of the biggest game's of our lives as seniors and for the whole program. We're gonna try and get a win for the program."

Manassas hosts Humboldt Monday at 7pm.
