If anyone in your home has allergies you know it's an ongoing battle to control. Well, I have some ideas to help you reduce triggers in your home.

Forget the big fluffy upholstered furniture and opt instead for leather or vinyl to cut down on dust and dust mites.

You should also make sure that you don't have wall to wall carpeting, it's also a dust magnet. Hardwood floors and area rugs will be much easier to keep clean.

When choosing window treatments opt for synthetic materials, not natural fibers.

Cover pillows and mattresses with allergen barriers and make sure you wash all of your bedding every week.

If you have kids, put their stuffed animals in a plastic bag in the freezer overnight once a week or so to kill dust mites.

Run a dehumidifier, you want the interior humidity to be less than fifty percent. Make sure that you clean the dehunidifier weekly, as it pulls moisture from the air it can be a breeding ground for mold and mildew.

When you're cleaning use damp cloths as opposed to dusters and brooms, the damp cloth will grab dust and dirt while the other will just spread it around.
