MEMPHIS HOMELESS TO GET GIFTS THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

(MEMPHIS, TN – Nov. 10, 2009) - What if you were two paychecks from being homeless?  Are you prepared to embrace your precious face to the gross grounds layered in spit and urine, even the old gum we chunked from the car window in passing.  No one really plans to be homeless, but life can certainly take that turn for any of us.

With more than 2,000 (accounted) men, women and children living on the streets of Shelby County, homelessness affects all of us.  So, while toasting glasses and chuckling with family over a plump turkey this holiday season, take a moment to reflect on the man who lost his job and search for scraps to nourish his body; or, the woman who had nowhere to go while desperately running from her abusive relationship; and, the soldier who lost his way as a servant to his country bravely protecting strangers he’s never even met – deserving of a clean cool drink of water.

Hope Establishment, a family ministry with the desire to bring hope back to the poor, wants to remind individuals of what giving really means; and, if just one person’s spirit is lifted, then our help is certainly not in vain.  Preparing and serving meals to the homeless is always a great contribution.  However, their needs far exceed just having a meal to eat.  Hope Establishment wants to get to the core of their daily necessities, and we need your help to make it possible for as many homeless individuals to receive a “Care Pack” this holiday season.

WHO:  Hope Establishment

WHAT:  Feed/Distribute Care Packs to Memphis Homeless

WHEN:  Sat., December 19, 2009 (deadline for donations Dec. 11th)

WHERE:  Court Square - Downtown

Hope Establishment is reaching out to citizens all over Shelby County, to donate items for the Care Pack, such as winter garments, first-aid/hygiene items and snacks.  We have 2,000 bags to fill and only a short period of time, but we know as a community, it can be done with much effort.  Care Packs will be gifted to individuals during a fellowship of hot meals and singing in Court Square, in the heart of downtown Memphis on Sat., December 19, 2009, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.  Deadline to donate items is Fri., December 11th.  For a complete itemized list of necessities needed, email us at hopeestablishment@yahoo.com.   In order to effectively organize the items, we would like to converse with you beforehand to determine which items you would like to sponsor to ensure equal distribution of products for the Care Packs.
