See what I am saying about the pop culture references. If you don’t know what the title refers too stop what you are doing right now and go to your local video rental place and rent I Know What You Did Last Summer. Don’t bother with the sequels, just watch the first one. I’ll wait….

Oh you’re back, did you watch it. Good, now back to business. This episode introduces us to Anna. Anna knows about the seals and if 66 of them are broken the Lucifer gets to walk the earth again.

The brothers set out to help Anna because Ruby tells them that the demons are after her. When they find Ruby, the brothers learn that she can “hear” the angels talking. The angels like Dean and think that he can save everyone and not too fond of Sam. Well duh because Sam is the offspring of a demon.

We also get introduced to Alastair. In Christian demonology. Alastor is the chief executioner and torturer for the monarch of Hell. Alastair is a white eyed demon, immune to Sam’s powers and later we learn immune to Ruby’s knife. If the 66 seals get broken not sure how they are going to stop Lucifer if the Winchester boy’s two “big guns” don’t work on this guy.

We are left with a cliff hanger with the two angels appearing for Anna.

A couple of pop culture references you might have missed:
-Dean makes reference to Girl, Interrupted. Girl, Interrupted is a 1999 movie starring Winona Ryder as a girl who was placed in a mental institute after trying to commit suicide. Also was one of the first movie for Misha Collins, who plays Castiel.

-Anna’s last name is the same as English writer John Milton, author of Paradise Lost, which describes the biblical Fall of Man and features Satan as a main character.
