Family Remains

I like how the brothers always come up with these wild stories to get people to leave a haunting such as “asbestos in the walls and a gas leak” and people usually buy it but this family not so much. To me this was just a filler episode; the whole point of the episode was to show that when you put people in extreme situations say like hell, it changes them. Dean admits he actually enjoyed inflicting pain on the souls in hell.

Couple of pop culture references that I should bring to your attention:

Dean said "Wow, story ripped from the Austrian headlines." This is a reference to the case of Josef Fritzl who in 2008 was found to have held his daughter captive in a cellar for 24 years and raped her, leading to the birth of 7 children. The other one is The Licked Hand. The Licked Hand is one of my favorite urban legends. The legend is where a girl goes to sleep with her dog next to her. During the night she wakes to a noise, but is comforted when the dog licks her hand, in the morning she wakes to find the dog dead and a note saying "humans can lick too".
