Jill Margetts joined the Eyewitness News Team in March of 2008. She is a Meteorologist for the Eyewitness Weather Team and you’ll also see her tracking down Mid-South news as a reporter.
Jill joins us in Memphis all the way from Idaho where she worked for an Idaho Falls news station. During her time there when reporting, she chased down everything from Grizzly and Black bears invading neighborhoods to an 8-foot pet python snake lost in the walls of an apartment complex. She also forecasted dangerously cold temperatures as well as snow, snow and more snow. She now enjoys forecasting the heat and humidity and is dedicated to warning your family when a severe storm is in the area.
Jill graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho with a degree in broadcasting. Soon after graduation she realized her passion for weather. Jill went on to study meteorology at Mississippi State University.
In addition to broadcasting, Jill also loves sports, especially fast-pitch softball. She played NCAA softball at BYU-Hawaii for two years as their pitcher and second baseman. She also likes scrapbooking and watching Utah Jazz basketball games with her husband Tyler. (Sorry Grizzlies fans!!!) Jill is from Utah and says her family has always been a big support.
