Jackie McPherson is so excited to call Memphis home!

She comes to the Mid-South from Carbondale, Illinois. Jackie worked there as the weekend anchor and reporter for WSIL, the ABC affiliate for southern Illinois; Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and Paducah, Kentucky.

While at WSIL, Jackie followed the developments of Timothy Krajcir, a serial killer who confessed to murdering nine women in the 1970’s. She also reported on two major ice storms, and southern Illinois’ first “derecho”—a wind storm that left tens of thousands of people without power for days.

Jackie’s work earned her the 2009 Illinois Broadcaster’s Association Silver Dome award for Best Reporter.

Prior to her time at WSIL, Jackie worked as a morning anchor and one-man band reporter in Sioux City, Iowa.

Born and raised in California, Jackie left her home in San Francisco to attend college on the East Coast. She graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Political Science from Wheaton College, and received her Master’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Emerson College in Boston.

When she’s not chasing down news, Jackie enjoys rollerblading, movies and live music, and enjoying Memphis’ many great restaurants. She’s also a sucker for crossword puzzles and her favorite baseball team—the Boston Red Sox!
