Email Dee Dee Griffin has been an Eyewitness News Anchor/Reporter since January 2003. You can watch her Monday thru Friday at 5pm, 6pm and 10pm on ABC24 and 9pm on CW 30.
Dee is a proud native of Augusta, Georgia. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Fisk University in Nashville, TN. She continued her education at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She earned her Master's of Science in Journalism from Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism.
Dee has more than 13 years of television news experience. She started her career at WTVA in Tupelo, MS. She was honored to move back to Augusta as a News Anchor/Reporter at WJBF-TV. She worked in the same capacity at WFSB-TV in Hartford, CT and KCTV in Kansas City.
Dee is very active in the Memphis Community. She is requested for dozens of public speaking appearances each year. She is a proud and active member of Mississippi Blvd Christian Church in Memphis. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Girls, Inc and IN ROADS/Memphis. She is an active member of the Junior League of Memphis, the Memphis/National Association of Black Journalists, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is also a graduate of the 2005 Class of Leadership Memphis
Dee has won numerous honors over the past decade. Most recently she was named one of the 50 Women of Influence in Memphis. She has also been named one of the Most Beautiful people by Memphis' RSVP Magazine. She has won awards for Best Feature Reporting by the Georgia Associated Press. Dee earned the honor of Best Series Reporting by the Georgia Association of Broadcasters. She was named Best On-Air Personality for her work in Georgia. She earned the National Academy of Television Journalists Golden Viddy Award for Excellence in Feature Reporting.
Dee is passionate about volunteering, as well as reading. Dee spends countless hours motivating students around the Midsouth. You can often find Dee combing the shelves of local book stores. Dee is an avid runner and she enjoys working out with her Personal Trainer. In fact, Dee completed the 2002 Kansas City "Hospital Hill" Half Marathon and the 2002 Chicago Marathon. She has also completed an International Road Race. Dee also enjoys playing Golf, although she admits that she is not a good golfer. Her most cherished pastime is hanging out with her family and friends.
