Ari was plucked off the beach in Wilmington, NC to join the Eyewitness Sports Everywhere staff in August of 2007. Prior to his return to sports broadcasting, Ari earned a second Bachelors degree in Creative Writing at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. His goal is to one day write Academy Award winning screenplays.
Ari started his broadcasting career in Scottsbluff, NE where he learned to love the smell of sugar beets and feed lots. From there, he moved to Mankato, MN where he got to cover his beloved Vikings. But after they became the first team in NFL history to go 15-1 and not make the Super Bowl, he decided to disown them. Actually, he still loves them, but not as much as his fundamentally sound Minnesota Twins. After a lengthy stint in Mankato, Ari made a significant jump to Oklahoma City, where he got to extensively cover the Sooners and Cowboys, attending the Cotton and Houston Bowls in the process. After a short stint in OKC, Ari became the Sports Director at WCCB-TV Fox Charlotte following the Carolina Panthers all the way to the Super Bowl.
Ari was a pretty darn good baseball player back in the day, as he once earned a gold glove as a stellar third baseman. Never mind he spray painted it that color, the glove was still gold. He also played soccer and hockey in high school, but was never able to parlay his talents into a meaning collegiate career. Instead, he figured “If I can’t play with the big boys, I’ll at least cover them.”
In his spare time, Ari loves listening to music (he has over 800 cd’s), attending concerts, watching movies and sports, writing, hitting the gym and attempting to play guitar. He also likes to eat, so the best way to his heart is through food. Any kind of food. He likes sweets too.
